How close is close?
OutScore assesses how close a prediction is in three ways. Did you get the overall result right? Were you close to the total goals in the match? And how close were you to the goals scored by each team?
Were you right about a home win, draw or away win?
Did you judge the scale of the match correctly?
Were you one goal away—or completely wrong?
The score to beat
OutScore builds a statistically accurate set of probabilities for every match using home advantage, each team’s record and the history of Premier League results.
Those probabilities set the points available for being close. The spread changes for each prediction, so the statistical expected return remains 30 points per match, whatever score you choose.
Over a standard Premier League week, that makes 300 the benchmark. Go with your football instinct—not the score that merely looks safe.
